Janet (Pfister) Hamilton has served as the Director of Music at St. Mary's Lanesville since August, 2001. She has continued the music traditions by expanding the role of the Adult Choir, starting a Children's and Youth Choir, and training cantors. In addition to her duties as organist and choir director here, she also teaches organ at IU Southeast as an Adjunct (part-time) Professor. Janet earned a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University and has performed organ recitals throughout the Southern Indiana/Louisville region.
In 2002 Janet recorded the CD “The Organ Works of Joseph Clokey” (who was a native of New Albany, Indiana). In July, 2009 she was invited to play a recital at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, and in June, 2010 she was an instructor for the Pipe Organ Encounter (a week-long camp for high-school aged organists) at IU in Bloomington.
